STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE!

February 6, 2010 Leave a comment

STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE…It is healthy to listen to your inner intuition and follow your passion… It is ok to fail and start again…Every second in life gives you an opportunity for change!

Step out! and be amazed by the amount of knowledge you can learn about yourself/others and life in general.

Who said that following a passion and executing it is easy? it takes only 1% inspiration and 99% prespiration.

Once, I did step out of my comfort zone…followed my passion…passed through the ups and down…And ended up going back to being an employee with a twist of change…SO WHAT? I did acquire great things and never lost my perseverance, drive and passion to follow my dream. NEVER LOOSE FOCUS!

Priceless things gained :
self discipline, accountability, action method, collaboration, feedback, survival, leadership, limitations, passion, prespiration, professionalism, self-evaluation, cherishing moments/ family, contacts, right surroundings, balanced life, focus.

The risk is to never take a risk!

DREAM, DARE AND RUN TO YOUR FEARS!

Initially, I was going to New York for my internship after my graduation from university back in Europe but life made it difficult  since I am Arab after the 9/11 event…talking about a BIG disappointment!

However a better thing is always around the corner, a new opportunity arose… my university offered me an internship in the Gulf in a new, young, ambitious upcoming company…so I took the offer!

My plan was to stay 6 months and go back to Europe and initially I stayed way more then couple of years. I guess you have to overcome your plans sometimes when you have a fantastic project to work for …but deep inside of me there was a call bothering me to set myself free and create something on my own. This feeling dragged for years I tried to do something about it but with no luck at that time…I tell you its frustrating!

Anyway, one ordinary day I was in the office and received a different e-mail about a seminar of Robin Sharma (a motivational speaker).

Do you believe in the law of attraction? I do…it works believe me… I saw Robin on TV, then I read his book “THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI” and finally received this mail…

I couldn’t say no to that…so I convinced my company to pay for the seminar using the excuse of higher work productivity and achievement.

At the end of this fantastic seminar, I approached Robin Sharma and asked him to give me a ONE  liner so it can inspire me to set myself free… He took the notepad and wrote

“DREAM, DARE AND RUN TO YOUR FEARS”.

How simple, yet sophisticated is that sentence?

How easy to read yet difficult to practise?

This sentence made me think for sometimes and I even went to a book store customized my own notepad with the Robin Sharma sentence on and put the notepad aside for when the time will come to take the decision and break free.

There are times when…

There are times when the victory line seems so close yet so far from you.

There are times when you think you have surely done the right thing yet you don’t know if  it was the right thing.

There are times when your mind plays game on you and you feel betrayed.

There are times when black isn’t black and white isn’t white.

There are times when your friends become your enemies and your enemies become your friends.

There are times when you feel invincible with your inner strength and faith and times when unwillingly doubts creep in and your true human weakness shows and you feel isolated.

There are times when you know that children can do and adults can block.

Yes, Entrepreneurs are Humans…BUT

There are times you truly know that you can make it.

There are times you pray for a sign to push you to stand up again.

There are times you get a sign and want to beleive again.

Yes, Entrepreneurs are strong believers.

An example of how destiny can shift you…

Some of us from an early stage in life have a clear picture of what do we want to be but the question is  how to get there!

Most of us use an easy way to achieve  and others a more challenging way…you ask me which is best it? Well, it depends on your choice you want to learn more and get tougher you choose the challenging way which is a good tool in life to have on the other hand you want to enjoy every minute of life you choose the easy way…though choice I know J

Anyway to make the long story short, after my high school graduation it was time for me to select an appropriate university, my parents dropped me for couple of hours in one of the most  reputed Middle Eastern university  to get familiar with the premises and choose the major I want to specialize in.

For a strange reason my inner intuition was saying No this university isn’t part of your dream…I didn’t want to be part of a shallow, materialistic environment…its the typical who you know not what you know club it definitely kills your vision.

After doing my university tour I sat down on one of the benches waiting for my parents to pick me up.

And for a strange unknown reason somebody from far away was calling me…quite honestly i wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone.

To my surprise, it was a middle aged men sitting on a wheel chair!

He insisted and kept on calling me…in order to stop this annoyance i went to see him. He was one of the university teachers. We talked about my concerns and dreams. He said to me “ if you want to make something out of your life study abroad and don’t look back”. Before I left he opened his suitcase and handed over a motivational  prayer and a poem.

That was a clear sign from god…your place isn’t here its elsewhere for the moment!
